In August, the WSU Current Conditions Index declined for the first time this year, with a drop of 0.3 percent from July. The Index indicator with the largest percentage decline was seasonally adjusted outbound airline passengers at Mid-continent Airport, which decreased 9.9 percent. The seasonally adjusted hotel occupancy rate also declined, by 6.2 percentage points. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose each of the four months from May through August. However, when comparing the 12 months ending in August with the previous 12 months, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined 0.8 percentage points.
