Preliminary estimates showed non-farm wage and salary employment in the Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area increased 4.3 percent, adding 12,658 jobs between 2006 and 2007. The latest revisions released by the Kansas Department of Labor estimate that employment grew just 2.9 percent between 2006 and 2007, adding 8,525 jobs.

 Kansas employment data were also revised downward. Preliminary estimates showed employment in Kansas increased 2.2 percent, adding 29,708 jobs between 2006 and 2007. The latest Kansas Department of Labor revisions estimate that employment grew 1.9 percent, adding 25,167 jobs between 2006 and 2007.
