The WSU Leading Economic Indicators Index closed out 2012 with a four-month gain of 3.1 percent. Although this gain doesn’t make up for the loss earlier in the year, it does create an upward trend that is encouraging. The Index indicator with the most negative impact in December was the number of initial claims for unemployment insurance filed in Kansas, which more than doubled from November.
