It is calculated by dividing the total number of employed workers in a geographic area by the total civilian non-institutionalized population, age 16 and over, in that same area. A new CEDBR report uses this methodology to compare ratios for Sedgwick County, Johnson County, Douglas County, Shawnee County and the aggregate of all other Kansas counties from 2000 through 2012.
