Wichita State University

Dr. Larisa V. Genin is the Dean of the W. Frank Barton School of Business and Professor at Wichita State University (WSU). Prior to joining WSU, Dr. Genin served as a tenured faculty, Interim Dean, and Associate Dean in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary’s College of California. She was also selected as 1 of 29 American Council on Education (ACE) fellows for the 2014 - 2015 academic year and recently completed the Executive Leadership Academy program at UC Berkeley. Both programs are recognized for preparing the next generation of higher education leaders.

During Genin’s tenure as Associate Dean in the School of Economics and Business Administration at Saint Mary’s College of California, undergraduate enrollments and internships pursued increased by over 100%. After driving the effort to attain initial AACSB accreditation for the college, they reaffirmed it for another five years under the new standards.

Under Genin’s leadership, academic programs have been designed with innovative curricula and the student experience has been strengthened. She ensured the launch of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and numerous engaging student clubs. Genin led the design of the “Career Gateway” personal and professional development program to prepare graduates for the pursuit of meaningful career paths.

Dr. Genin is the author of more than 20 combined publications and presentations covering topics such as globalization, innovation, online branding and social media. She has taught Executive MBA, MBA, and undergraduate courses in marketing, strategy and global business at the University of California Berkeley/University of Hong Kong, Santa Clara University, California State University (East Bay), Dominican University of California and John F. Kennedy University (where she also served as Chair of the MBA program), among many others.

With a student-centered mindset, Dean Genin is committed to supporting faculty, staff, and stakeholders in ways that empower, energize, develop, and advance them. She is excited to be joining the University at such a pivotal time in their history and looks forward to driving the capital campaign to completion and facilitating the construction of a new building to house the W. Frank Barton School of Business. An active member of the business community in the San Francisco Bay Area (prior to relocating to Wichita), she looks forward to forging strategic partnerships and building relationships within her new community.

Genin received a Master’s degree in Management and a doctorate in Business Administration from Golden Gate University after graduating from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business.
