The WSU Leading Economic Indicators Index increased 0.6 percent from July to August. From August 2012 to August 2013, the index increased 1.1 percent. This indicates that economic activity is anticipated to be somewhat improved in six months from the current level of economic activity in the Wichita area. This can be attributed to positive adjustments to the Aircraft Production Index and the International Leading Index. The National Industrial Production Index has also improved between July and August. This indicates the anticipated improvement in the Wichita economy is a reflection of the overall level of anticipated activity in the national economy.
