In October, the WSU Current Conditions Index hit its highest value since June 2009, at 90.24. Four of the six Index indicators showed improvement from September to October. Home sales increased by 11.5 percent, the hotel occupancy rate increased by 5 percentage points, outbound airline passengers at Wichita’s Mid-Continent airport increased by 1.9 percent, and the unemployment rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points. In the last year there has not been a month-to-month increase of more than 1 percent, but the consistently upward movement of the Index is very encouraging. All indicators are seasonally adjusted.
