Michael graduated from Fort Hays State University with a BS in Finance in 1985. He then worked for five years with the Kansas Banking Department as a field examiner. In 1989, he returned to work at the Ellis State Bank and was named President of the bank in 1995. Michael worked there until 2008 when Ellis merged with Equity Bank of Wichita and continued to be Market President until 2012. He also served 6 years on the Kansas Banking Board. He has since retired from the daily business at the bank but remains on the Board of Directors. In, 2012 Michael founded a franchise of Re/Max real estate in Hays where he is still the owner and president today.
